Ms. Stansfield's students brought literature to life with engaging mock trials based on short stories! Students worked in groups to create cases inspired by Roald Dahl's Lamb to the Slaughter, The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, and Spunk by Zora Neale Hurston . They took on roles as prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, judges, and jurors to argue and decide each case. Every student had a chance to serve on the jury, making thoughtful decisions about the outcomes. #proud2bFD

6th grade students in Ms. Daniel-Wiseman's class created portraits inspired by Picasso's Cubism work. They traced unique head shapes and added expressive features to show two different views. Using markers, crayons, and a water technique that allowed the marker to bleed throughout the crayon and background, they created vibrant textures and dynamic designs that truly stand out. #proud2bFD

On the day before winter break, the Butler Elementary music room was filled with sounds from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." Students combined literacy, dance, art, and music to become illustrators as they read the story of the Nutcracker, listened to excerpts from the ballet, and drew their own illustrations. #proud2bFD
