FDCSD December Student and Staff of the month

The Fort Dodge Community School District announces the December 2024 Students and Employee of the Month Honorees. This program recognizes one elementary, one middle school, and one high school student, as well as one staff member, monthly for exceeding expectations.

Jose Prado Juarez is the Elementary Student of the Month. Jose attends Butler Elementary.

Jamie Harvey and Jordan Westergaard nominated Jose. In their nominations, they wrote that Jose actively participates in class and is willing to help other students when they don’t understand something. He is a hard worker, always respectful and kind, and always has a smile on his face.

Jordan wrote, “Jose always does what is right, even when no one is looking. He loves to be at school and Butler is lucky to have him as a student.”

Jamie wrote, “When you think of students who show integrity, he is easily at the top of the list. Teachers trust him, peers like him, and there isn't a task he is not willing to do. He is always willing and eager for everyday. His energy is contagious to everyone around him.”

Joseph Tate is the Middle School Student of the Month.

The 8 Gold team nominated Joseph. In their nomination, they wrote, “Joseph is deserving of student of the month because of his consistent demonstration of exemplary character, kindness, and responsibility. He is a positive role model in the classroom, always showing respect to both peers and teachers. Joseph goes above and beyond to help others, offering support when needed and making sure everyone feels included. He also has a strong work ethic and cares about his learning and grades. Joseph's ability to balance academic excellence with kindness and respect for others makes them a true standout and a deserving candidate for this recognition.”

Saiya Noborikawa is the Senior High Students of the Month.

Andi Adams nominated Saiya. She wrote, “Saiya is not only a straight-A student, but she goes above and beyond what the standards and expectations are of any project we complete in class. In fact, she sets the standard in our Honors class.”

Saiya tries new things and constantly pushes herself outside of her comfort zone. She extends grace to others when they are struggling or nervous in class, and helps to put them at ease.

Kati Olson is the Employee of the Month.

Jill Rasmussen nominated Kati, writing, “Ms. Olson has a passion for teaching that shines through in her daily interaction with her students and staff. She demonstrates good character and kindness in her daily interactions and demeanor she displays to everyone at Cooper Elementary. She is not just a teacher; she is a beacon of hope and guidance for her students with special needs. Ms. Olson radiates a love for her students and even students that aren't "hers" in the most beautiful ways. She holds her students to the highest of expectations and sets clear boundaries for them. These are the students that need this the most and feed on her exemplary classroom management with this. Her love shines through because she holds her students to their highest potential but with care and grace. Ms. Olson makes sure the learning being taught in her classroom is accessible and enjoyable for all of her students and their unique challenges.”
