The Fort Dodge Community School District announces the October 2024 Students and Employee of the Month Honorees. This program recognizes one elementary, one middle school, and one high school student, as well as one staff member, monthly for exceeding expectations.
Andrew Underberg is the Elementary Student of the Month. He attends Early Childhood Center.
Kirby Smith nominated Andrew, writing, “I think Andrew deserves this award because of his kindness to everyone, being responsible for getting his work done independently. He always has a smile on his face with a strong effort to learn new things. He is always willing to help others and make sure everyone is included in our classroom. Andrew is a great leader in my classroom!”
Madisyn Smith is the Middle School Student of the Month.
The 7 Plum team nominated Kinley. In their nomination, they wrote, “She is a leader in Dodger Time and sets an example for other students. She is kind to her peers and adults. She is a leader in 7th grade and avoids conflicts with peers. She is a positive leader for our team!”
Brandt Lawler is the Senior High Student of the Month.
Todd Constable nominated Brandt, writing, “"Brandt is a model of leadership and integrity. He is kind, respectful, and always willing to lend a helping hand to his classmates. Brandt’s collaborative spirit and willingness to support others have made a positive impact on the school community.”
Roger Porter is the Employee of the Month.
The Early Childhood Center nominated Roger, writing, “We would like to nominate Roger for Employee of the Month, as he has consistently gone above and beyond to keep our schools safe and secure. Since he joined our team, we have never felt more supported and protected as school employees.
Roger is always there to lend a listening ear, brainstorm solutions, attend important meetings, and respond swiftly in times of crisis. He has worked tirelessly to develop well-thought-out response protocols, taken the time to train everyone, and ensured that we have everything we need to implement these plans effectively.
After every situation, Roger makes sure to debrief with us, leaving everyone feeling at ease and confident in our safety measures. His dedication and commitment to our school community are truly inspiring."
