About Us

The Fort Dodge Community School District (FDCSD) proudly serves the vibrant communities of Fort Dodge, Badger, Coalville, and Otho, along with surrounding rural areas. Located in Fort Dodge, Iowa, our district is home to over 3,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, supported by approximately 400 dedicated employees across seven schools. These include one early childhood center, four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The FDCSD combines the resources and opportunities of a large school district with the personalized approach of a smaller community. Our vision—Everyone Matters, Everyone Belongs, Everyone Thrives—guides everything we do.

Early Childhood Center

Opened in the fall of 2021, the FDCSD Early Childhood Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the unique developmental needs of young learners. This center serves all preschool, transitional kindergarten, and kindergarten students in an environment that fosters creativity, exploration, and foundational skill development.

Elementary Education

Our four elementary schools, serving grades 1-5, provide a strong foundation for academic success. Students engage in core subjects as well as enriching experiences in physical education, health, music, art, library-media, and technology. Technology education includes keyboarding, computer program use, and internet safety, ensuring students develop essential 21st-century skills.

Fort Dodge Senior High

Fort Dodge Senior High provides a diverse array of learning opportunities, with over 200 courses, including Advanced Placement (AP), honors, post-secondary enrollment options, vocational training, and health occupations classes. Students can also take advantage of Iowa Central Community College courses offered onsite and participate in the North Central Iowa Career Academy. A broad selection of electives allows students to tailor their education to their interests and career aspirations. Beyond academics, Fort Dodge Senior High boasts more than 20 school-sanctioned extracurricular activities and 21 athletic teams, encouraging student engagement and leadership development.
