Junior Information
Transcripts: Colleges would like students to wait until after the end of their junior year to send transcripts. You may obtain a transcript by requesting it in the Counseling Office or emailing Jeri Bird at jbird@fdschools.org.
College Representatives: Many colleges send Admission Representatives to visit high schools. Visits will be posted in the school announcements. If you would like to meet with a college rep, ask your counselor to create an e-hallpass for you to stop down during the designated time.
College Visits: Throughout the school year, the Counseling Department takes groups of students to visit different colleges. Your school counselor will contact you if we plan to visit a college you have indicated you are interested in. We encourage individual college visits as well. Please see your counselor if you plan to take a school day to visit a college.
College Entrance Tests: If you are planning to go to a 4 year college, you need to take a college entrance test. You can either take the ACT or SAT. The ACT is the most common entrance exam in the Midwest. For more information, click here.
Career Exploration: FDSH provides many career exploration opportunities, including career days at Iowa Central, industry tours, and guest speakers during MTSS. These opportunities are posted in the school announcements, or your school counselor may invite you personally if you have indicated an interest in a certain career field/industry.
